THE EVOLUTION OF THE EDENDEWPICS PROJECT
Ten years ago, I began to think a lot about the forthcoming damage to Planet Earth that would be caused by global warming and climate change, so set about with the objective of creating a statement as a multimedia photo-iconographer about the ecological predicament the human race was facing and was inspired and motivated to conduct an experiment.
I stored a carton of about 2000 glass-mounted film transparencies - once used in multi-image slide shows I had produced - in a "heavily trafficked" communal laundry. My knowledge of the chemical composition of film suggested there was a possibility that the transparencies would change irreversibly by the effects of laundry detergents, bleaches and their airborne chemicals and the humidity generated by the clothes dryers - catalysts of global warming and climate change.

Planet Earth is in a warming climate scenario (2X CO2 by 2025) and there are already 24 sites in areas of high risk to terrestrial ..... |

A day I will never ever forget is the day I took a look at the stored slides, five years later. Time, as it wont, had played a fabulously subliminal picture game. My noble chromo graphic archive had transmogrified; I discovered that nitrate condensations were in the process of the most sublime optic-erotic fabulata to the slides. In the silent story of their storage, the slivers of colourful chemical life had been dancing the fractal tango of mutatus mutandis, caused by Planet Earth’s Master of Fungus and its partner in environmental disorder - global warming.
The experiment had worked its wonders brilliantly. I “harvested” about 580 affected images! I began to see my previously familiar chromo-graphs in the other symbol of time - supra ultra – because they had become a new LIVING ART in which some traces of new Fungi are living and morphing, right there in many of the photo transparencies.
Six years of high-energy photo-enhancing creativity has gone into this path of discovery and wonderment. Many people find the EDENDEWPICS mystical and somewhat ethereal.
I might have been smart at sensing the potential of the images, but I had not eye-glossed the great philosophical conjectures of Heraclites. Nor had I any knowledge of Henri Poincaré and his calculus of chaos and the logic of fractal growth.

FRESH GLOBAL WARMING FUNGI
|

Global warming is producing a plethora of new Fungi that is fruiting and spreading all over the Planet very rapidly..... |

The EDENDEWPICS are creating retinal adventures that reveal time’s unpredictable trace in the ever-changing palimpsest machine which we conveniently call "photography".
EXPLAINING THE EDENDEWPICS
•The organic, fungi based changes to the images has made them a dramatic visual
representation of a world ravaged by global warming and climate change.
•The "atmospherics" of the images are intended to stimulate human imagination.
They encourage the audience to go through the vanishing point of any of the
EDENDEWPICS and sense what the experience of living on a greenhouse planet
might be like.
•The images allow your "inner being circuit" to make its own interpretations and
invite your imagination to run free and ask yourself some probing questions about
the environmental and climatic changes taking place on Planet Earth.
•The EDENDEWPICS create a strong sense of anticipation and interaction. They take
you to a possible future, into a space you have never been before.
•The EDENDEWPICS are the genesis of a visual language that is writing the early
chapters of the Iconography of our ecological malaise.
•First, we must understand this visual language. The EDENDEWPICS Iconography
may become the language of a Para Culture, which would develop quickly as the
human race face the realities of being the pioneers co-existing in completely
different environments to those we live in today.
•My work is intended to give the world a view of the future if global warming and
climate change continues unabated; I am trying to put the environmental changes
now and the future into some sort of order, some sort of pictorial logic.
•The EDENDEWPICS could possibly be the first in the world to give us a
representational glimpse of the future affects of global warming and climate change
on Planet Earth. (Many thorough searches of the WWW have not found any images
remotely like the EDENDEWPICS).
